8 Natural Remedies for Diabetes

Type 2 Diabetes or Diabetes mellitus is commonly referred to as Diabetes. It is a chronic metabolic disorder in which blood sugar levels are too high. This happens when your body does not use or produce enough insulin. When neglected, diabetes leads to other serious health problems like cardiovascular diseases, eye disorders, and kidney diseases.

The number of people diagnosed with Diabetes is increasing day by day. Recent statistics show that India has majority number of people with diabetes. Genetic factors, Overweight, High blood pressure, High triglyceride and cholesterol levels, Dietary habits contribute in having a higher risk for diabetes.

Effective Home Remedies To Cure Diabetes:
There is no cure for diabetes but can be controlled to avoid its complications. Here come the best homemade remedies to maintain normal glucose levels.

Remedies for Diabetes

(1)   Cinnamon: Daily take about half teaspoon of cinnamon. Studies have shown positive results in controlling blood glucose levels.

(2)   Fenugreek seeds: Take 5gm of stranded fenugreek seeds, soak overnight in required amount of water. Daily drink this early morning for best results. Fenugreek seeds are rich in alkaloids and soluble fibres that slow the absorption of carbohydrates. This suggests they are effective in treating diabetes.

(3)   Bitter gourd: Bitter gourd lowers blood glucose in diabetics contributing to its anti-diabetic properties. Daily have a glass of bitter gourd juice on an empty stomach. It is a famous food supplement in Asian countries and got great medicinal values.

(4)   Chia seeds: Chia is a member of the mint family high in fibres, fatty acids, protein and lipids. It is the most promising remedy to treat diabetes. Add chia seeds to a glass of water and blend it. After about 30 minutes you will get a clear paste. This paste can be used either solely or in form of a food supplement.

(5)   Jambul: Jambul or Black plum is a fruit having various health benefits.  Prepare a gel or paste of jambul by boiling plums in water. The gel can be taken directly or can be used in form of sauces and jam. Diabetic patient should necessarily take this on empty stomach  daily in the morning for best results

(6)   Neem: The Neem plant as a whole got many medicinal value from ages. Neem enhances insulin receptor sensitivity thus used as an effective cure for diabetes. Prepare neem leaf extracts and seed oils. Add water to dilute it and jaggery for a sugary taste.

(7)   Green Tea: Green Tea is an antioxidant and used as a cure for Diabetes. A healthy drink that improves insulin sensitivity. Take two grams of tea per 100 ml of water and have it daily.

 (8)   Apple cider vinegar: Apple cider vinegar helps in stabilizing blood sugar and lipid levels. Add two tablespoons of apple cider vinegar with water and stir the mixture. Studies revealed that drinking vinegar at bed time decreases around 4%-6% glucose levels in diabetic patients.
